The House system at GWA was introduced to encourage attachment within the school and that every student experiences a sense of belonging and identification. The House points system which has been introduced is seen as a positive way for pupils to be rewarded for their work, effort and contributions to school life.
The House system is a great source of fun, competition, achievement and teamwork with every student given the opportunity to represent the House at whatever activity they excel or enjoy. A spirit of friendly rivalry exists between the Houses, rivalry which is given ample opportunity to manifest itself in a wide range of inter-house competitions.
Students are encouraged to develop a sense of pride in their House, working not just for themselves but for others. Charity fund raising activities are also organised on a House as well as a school basis, further fostering the concept of a caring community which is central to the aims of GWA.
The House system will be used to build a sense of community, collaboration, and camaraderie amongst the students and staff. Students will be able to share and showcase their talents outside of the academic setting.
Houses are composed of students from grades 6-12. Some houses have students in grades 6-8 and others in grades 9-12. Each month students attend a house assembly led by their House Leader and a student led assembly.
