This is the inaugural year for
GEMS World Academy in participating in competitive sports throughout the region. We believe that athletics are an integral part of a student’s mental and physical growth. Students build on social ties, learn to work in a team setting and compete versus various schools within the UAE.
There are three major seasons: Fall, Winter and Spring - GWA will be offering competitive teams in boys and girl’s soccer, basketball, tennis, swimming and track/field this academic year.
For the 2010-2011 academic years, GWA will expand in offering boys and girls volleyball, cross country and badminton. GWA is currently applying for membership within the Dubai Coast Conference (DCC) and the Eastern Mediterranean Athletic Conference (EMAC). Upon entering these conferences, this will give students a wonderful opportunity to compete throughout the Middle East and experience social and cultural exchanges.
